Tennis Program Overview
The Columbine Rebels Boys’ Tennis Program is a fall sport with two teams (Varsity and JV). Varsity Student-Athletes are eligible to receive a “letter” in this sport by achieving certain criteria established/communicated by the tennis coaching staff before the season begins. Once the season begins, players are expected to practice every afternoon (Mon-Fri), in addition to participating in matches throughout the week and on Saturdays.
Boys’ Tennis is a no-cut sport so every JV player gets a chance to practice and also compete against players from other schools. At the same time, high expectations are placed on every member of the team. After the first two weeks of school, academically, a player must have at least a C in each of their classes to be eligible to play in the following week’s matches.
Rebel Tennis has a comprehensive (free) offseason program (spring/summer), which includes: strength & conditioning, fundamental and strategic hitting sessions. Some players also participate in a variety of team camps and competitions during the off-season. There are additional costs associated with these activities. While not required, they are highly recommended so Student-Athletes are mentally and physically prepared for the upcoming season.
